The scapula press motion requires straight or fixed angles at the elbow joint and the lowering of the chest to be completed by the muscles around the shoulder blade (scapula) itself. Although your weight is being distributed through your wrist and hand the movement that occurs is from the lowering and raising of the chest towards and away from the ground. The target of this muscle is the predominantly the serratus anterior, this muscle plays a key role by keeping the scapula flat against the ribs which is key for creating the basis of stability around the shoulder joint. Using the analogy o the firing a canon out of a canoe, the arm and large power muscles are the canon and scapula stability is the canoe. If the canoe isn't large and stable enough the canon will fore you backwards rather than the canonball.
