A fundamental squat pattern that gives a biased on the quadriceps due to the load being further forwards in relation to your centre of mass. Holding the weight against the chest whilst ensuring you do not collapse forwards puts work into the lumbar and thoracic extensors to help maintain a big chest position, which can ideal when thinking about reloading squat patterns when someone has been limited by back weakness.
