Named after Askling who created this hamstring related rehab protocol, the Extender is the starting point where he focuses on restoring relative flexibility of the hamstring muscles. During this exercise you will straighten the knee into resistance that you will feel, with the stopping point to be just before pain. The importance is to help your tissues that are healing to be subjected to slow lengthening which is very controlled but challenges its ability to lengthen with tension.
