A progression from the bodyweight Forward Lunge, the backloaded variety puts a large of abdominal and spinal loading into your body which is incredibly useful when it comes to athletic performance. The key element is to not overload, and control the bar through the whole range of motion as you are being tested in your ability to keep the bar and your torso still when driving your weight forwards, as well as backwards when returning to the start position.
