By lifting one leg during the push up you are adding a rotational control challenge to the trunk, which can be very useful if the focus of the session was to control trunk rotation. This version of the Push Up is equally at home as an upper body metabolic exercise in a HIIT or Tabata type session of as a stand alone exercise where you are not necessarily looking for maximal chest improvement but want to work the chest whilst making the metabolic cost of the exercise higher.
